50 Acts of Service
To mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of Montessori Community School, our community launched a “50 for 50 Acts of Service to the Community” initiative. The service initiative had its roots in the “40 Acts of Service” initiative that marked MCS’ 40th anniversary, and embodies the school’s mission to encourage a commitment to the community and stewardship of the natural world.
Families, staff, and friends of MCS were encouraged to seek out and support causes they care about, and document their actions and learning experiences to share with and inspire others. As a whole school service project, MCS participated in the Genki Ala Wai Project, an initiative in collaboration with other schools and community service organizations to help clean up this central Oahu waterway. Many thanks to all of you who took action and sent us information about how you and your keiki have helped make our island a better place for the environment and our community!
