Please Note: MCS has been closely following developments with regard to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Our thoughts are with all those who have been affected by the virus around the world.

We are now only accepting registration for our Summer Programs for current MCS families and those enrolling for the 2020-2021 school year. 

MCS SUMMER PROGRAMS 2020 - DISTANCE LEARNING                              


Montessori Community School will be offering Summer Programs 2020 - Distance Learning from June 15 - August 7, 2020.  The decision to offer a remote program is based on the our school’s top priority to protect the health and safety of our students and community.

Summer Programs 2020 - Distance Learning will be available for current MCS families and those enrolling for the 2020-2021 school year.

Dates for the Summer Programs 2020 - Distance Learning:

June 15 - August 7, 2020 

8:30-11:30 a.m.

Session I: June 15 - June 26, 2020

Session II: June 29 - July 10, 2020

Session III: July 13 - July 24, 2020

Session IV: July 27 - August 7, 2020

There will be no distance learning on 

Friday, July 3, 2020 (Independence Day holiday) 

*Please note: When starting the online application for Summer Programs 2020 - Distance Learning, select your child's current grade level under "Montessori Community School Summer Programs" from the drop-down menu. If you are prompted to pay a $50.00 fee to submit your application, you have completed the incorrect application. 

Registration will only be confirmed once the full tuition amount is received by the Business Office.

SUMMER PROGRAMS 2020 - DISTANCE LEARNING 

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Preschool/Kindergarten Distance Learning Program 

Dates: June 15 - August 7, 2020 - 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Eligibility: Children who were in preschool or kindergarten in the 2019-2020 school year, and incoming children enrolled for the 2020-2021 school year.

Description: The MCS preschool-aged children will continue to learn from the rich resources of the Montessori curriculum, and the summer program will broaden their horizons as they learn about the aina (land) and laau (plants) of the Hawaiian Islands.  Fun projects will support their discovery of volcanoes and weather, the ahupuaa (Hawaiian land division), and native and introduced plants.  

 

Tuition:

Session I: June 15 - June 26, 2020: $290.00

Session II: June 29 - July 10, 2020: $260.00

Session III: July 13 - July 24, 2020: $290.00

Session IV: July 27 - August 7, 2020: $290.00


 

Lower Elementary Distance Learning Program

Dates: June 15 - August 7, 2020 - 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Eligibility: Children who were in grades 1-2 in the 2019-2020 school year, and incoming children enrolled for the 2020-2021 school year.

Teachers: Ms. Alex Sisson and Kumu Lehua Matsuoka

Description: The Lower Elementary Distance Learning Program will focus on ecology, Hawaiian land animals, birds and plants, and other Hawaiian themed lessons. 

 

Tuition:

Session I: June 15 - June 26, 2020: $290.00

Session II: June 29 - July 10, 2020: $260.00

Session III: July 13 - July 24, 2020: $290.00

Session IV: July 27 - August 7, 2020: $290.00


 

Upper Elementary Distance Learning Program

Dates: June 15 - August 7, 2020 - 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Eligibility: Children who were in grades 3-5 in the 2019-2020 school year, and incoming children enrolled for the 2020-2021 school year.

Teachers: Ms. Kylie Dunn and Mr. Bob Sisson

Description: The Upper Elementary Distance Learning Program will include a combination of Hawaiian studies and STEM. Ms. Kylie will lead lessons focused on ecology, Hawaiian land animals, birds and plants, and conservation of the earth. After the morning lessons, students will have follow up activities relating to the topics of the lessons. At 10:00 a.m., students will meet with Mr. Bob for a STEM program (Mon-Thurs). This includes coding and how to properly use iPad functions. 

 

Tuition:

Session I: June 15 - June 26, 2020: $290.00

Session II: June 29 - July 10, 2020: $260.00

Session III: July 13 - July 24, 2020: $290.00

Session IV: July 27 - August 7, 2020: $290.00
