As we start our Re-Enrollment period for current students, it seems like a good time to look at what makes a Montessori education so powerful and, in particular, what makes Montessori Community School a good school of choice for children.
Our goal is, as Dr. Montessori said so eloquently, “to keep burning within [the child] that
light that is called the intelligence.” “Education for life” is both descriptive and aspirational. MCS students form a solid foundation in life skills, and the fire to be lifelong learners.

At every level, a Montessori education
draws out the possibilities and potentialities within each student
provides a rich environment for learning and the freedom to explore it
has developmentally appropriate and engaging tools for every child to cultivate their own learning
celebrates individual affinities and talents while also coaching group and other school skills
has a time and research tested sequence of learning experiences designed to provide academic rigor, support and challenge

Montessori Community School stands for integrity in all aspects of our practice. Whether it is a faithful adherence to the educational principles set by Dr. Montessori or our business practices, we are committed to supporting your child’s education with honesty, open communication, and compassion.
Fidelity to MCS philosophy and practices is ensured by our AMS certification, assuring that we adhere to rigorous standards that are assessed by the American Montessori Society and the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools annually, with regularly scheduled campus visits. You can be sure MCS has these key markers:
Prepared environment
Materials
Uninterrupted work periods
High degree of freedom
3 year mixed age groups
Limited number of teachers (to increase independence of students)
Montessori trained teachers
